Memory

In Bodega Bay, California the crab pots are stacked and ready to go.
Pictures and shapes are but secondary objects and please or displease only in the memory.

Imaginary Ordinary

This will be the last of my pelican photographs for a while.  I'll put up more of these at a later time.  I used Photoshop to give this a painterly look.

As photographs give people an imaginary possession of a past that is unreal, they also help people to take possession of space in which they are insecure.

How We Roll

To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.

Freedom

I went to Bodega Bay in California and was fortunate enough to come upon this sight.  My husband grew up around there and said he'd never seen such a large flock of pelicans.  There were so many floating together in the water.  Being a photographer, this was a very exciting find.  The day was perfect and the water was calm.  In the next few days I'll be posting more of these.

Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life as you choose. Anything less is a form of slavery.

Pastures Of Plenty

Just spent the last 6 days in the wine country in Sonoma County California.  As we were leaving town we stopped to enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful vineyards along a wonderful country road.  This is the first time I've been there when the leaves on the vines were changing.  Wow, I could have spent the whole day photographing what I saw...maybe next year!
Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.  ~George Eliot

Sidewalk Sale

I love watching talented people enjoy their craft!
A painter paints the appearance of things, not their objective correctness, in fact he creates new appearances of things.

Grey Gardens

I've always love the bougainvillea in California.  Even up close they look like paper.  I like the texture and shapes they create in black and white.

You Make Me Smile

What are little boys made of?  Well, this one is made with a beautiful face and eyes to match.  This is one of my collage experiments.

Graveyard Girl

I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll be seeing a lot of Lady GaGa's at my door this Halloween.

Silhouettes

Here's a Photoshop piece for the week.  I thought it might fit the Halloween theme somewhat.
I say that I can't make anything up. I think of myself as a collage artist. I'm cutting and pasting memories of my life. And I say, I have to live a life in order to tell a life. I would prefer to tell it because telling you're always in control, you're like God.

Rollin'

I looked over and there was a perfect sea of orange.

I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

Sun King

I don't know what else to say except that when I look at a sunflower I want to smile.  I also remember all the sunflower seeds I ate as a child.

The Danger Zone

This one is guarding the crops from little goblins and birds that are hungry.  I guess he's not THAT scary!

I Just Want To See Your Face

There's nothing like seeing a field of sunflowers to make you think "Halloween".  I wonder if there's a maze in there!
