I Still Remember

It isn't that often that I see children sitting on a curb with lollipops and a puppy, but I do remember the days that I did that!

Always remember that these are kids. Do not holler at them, give them all the support you can because this is all about the children.

Your Protector

I love photographing animals, especially dogs.  These are photographs of my dogs (except the last two).

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace."

Awake My Soul

Surrealists paintings were generally based on dreams. Their paintings were filled with familiar objects which were painted to look strange or mysterious. The artists hoped their odd paintings would make people look at things in a different way and change the way they felt about things. They thought that their paintings might stir up feelings in the back of peoples minds.  This is an example of my surreal composite photography.  I am creating a body of work to possibly exhibit in an art show someday.

Wondering Where You Are

I was taking a drive and stopped to photograph some long- horned cows.  All of a sudden I heard something which sounded like a child's tom-tom drum.  I turned around and looked across the street and saw this sight.  It was like these two were posing.  They were very curious and actually came up to the fence.  This photograph is in my top 10 of all the photographs I've ever taken.  I didn't have to do any post processing.  The colors you see are the colors I saw.  The lighting was perfect!

We come here to remember those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever. May all who leave here know the impact of violence. May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity.

Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground

This butterfly was released at a wedding I went to recently.  It was an interesting idea that I'd never seen before.  They were in little tiny flat boxes.  They gave one to each couple there.  We were told to make a wish and then open the box.  We opened ours and this beautiful butterfly flew out upward toward the heavens.  This photo was of a butterfly that went to the grass.  It was really beautiful with all these butterflies flying all around us. They were everywhere!  I know anyone who is reading this is probably wondering (as I was) how they didn't die in the little flat boxes.  I was told that they were kept cold until about 2 hours before the wedding at which time the boxes were taken out into the sun to warm them up.  The second is a Photoshop art piece.

Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases wherever it goes
Love is like a butterfly, hold it too tight, it'll crush. Hold it too loose, it'll fly.

I Like It, I Love It

It's fair time in the Antelope Valley.  There's always children and cotton candy!

Groovy Kind of Love

I had the privilege of doing a family photo shoot at the beach.  I haven't had so much fun in so long, although I think we were all worn out when all was said and done.  Everyone in the family had such a great attitude!  That in itself was amazing because there were 4 teenagers!  The family had a collection of beautifully framed black and white and sepia-toned surf photography in their home.  One of the goals of the day was to recreate some of these photos to add to their collection.  This is an example of one of the photos before and after!  Usually, as a photographer today you're taking scratches OUT of a photograph...not putting them in!!!

All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget.  In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings.  Paintings record what the painter remembers.  Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change it's meaning according to who is looking at it"
John Berger (English Painter, b. 1926)

Rolling In the Deep

Well, as summer comes to an end it's only fitting that I put up a couple of surfer pictures.

"There are no more committed people on the planet than surfers. We fall down a lot. We turn around, paddle back out, and do it over and over again. Unlike anything else in life, the stoke of surfing is so high that the failures quickly fade from memory."
— Gary Sirota (surfer)

You're a Mirror I Cannot Avoid

I got inspired to do a Photoshop art piece the other day.  A lot of the time when I do this kind of work I realize that my art can be strange.  I also realized that this is the kind of art I prefer.

Hidden Sun

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted to this blog.  My plan is to get back into the groove.  This was taken at Apollo Lake in Lancaster CA about an hour after sunrise.

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
